'Dogs Conclude Action at St. Mary's Invitational

MORAGA, Calif. ---The Fresno State women's tennis team finished day three of the St. Mary's Invitational with three victories at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex in Moraga, Calif. on Sunday.
Fresno State teammates, Anne Susdorf and Anneka Watts won their round-robin doubles match over Pacific's SaenzDeBuruaga and Suarez (8-2). Junior Aishwarya Agrawal and freshman Claire Yang fell to the No. 3 seed, Danielle Silva and Katie Le of Santa Clara in the championship match (8-0).
In round-robin singles play the Bulldogs went 2-for-3 on the final day of competition. Agrawal won her match over Stanford's Amelia Herring (6-3,4-6,1-0(7) and Watts defeated Bryn Bacharach of Cal Poly in straight sets (6-3,6-1). Yang lost to Jennifer Nguyen of Sacramento State (6-4,6-4).
In the consolation semifinal round, Susdorf fell to Cal Poly's Emily Gibbens (6-4, 6-0).

“Overall it was a good weekend, we had some very positive things happen,” said Fresno State head coach Ryan Stotland. “We have some things to work on and we only have a week until regionals. We will take our positives and get better from those this week in practice.”
The Bulldogs are set to compete next at the ITA Northwest Regionals in Palo Alto, Calif. on Oct. 19. Fresno State then hosts its home tournament at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center Nov. 1-3.
