FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State women's tennis team finished strong on the final day of the Bulldog Classic at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center on Sunday.

Rana Sherif Ahmed and Sophie Watts started the morning on the right foot for the Bulldogs, defeating Lozano and Sanz of Idaho in the doubles championship round(8-5).

In Flight B Tanya Murtagh and Anne Susdorf paired to also win their doubles match over Lazano and McDonald of Idaho and Portland State (8-7).

In another solid day of singles play, Fresno State won five of its six matches. Susdorf, Sophie Watts, Rana Sherif Ahmed and Anneka Watts won their singles round-robin matches.

Freshman Claire Yang finished the day strong for the Bulldogs, defeating Bety Flores of Idaho (6-2, 6-3) in the singles championship round of Flight F.

The Bulldogs combined to finish the weekend with a total of 30 singles and doubles victories.

"The tournament was a great way to finish the fall season for most of the team," said Fresno State head coach Ryan Stotland. "I think that we are getting better and it shows in our results, we just need to continue to improve and get ready for our team season."

Fresno State competes at the ASU Thunderbird tournament next weekend for its final matches of the fall season.
