'Dogs Set For ITA Kick-Off Weekend

    FRESNO, Calif. ---The No. 59 Fresno State women's tennis team is headed back to Berkeley, Calif. this weekend as the Bulldogs will participate in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend beginning on Sunday, Jan. 27. The 'Dogs will be joined by California, Saint Mary's and UNLV. Fresno State is slated to take on Cal in the first match of the weekend at 10 a.m. on Jan. 27th.

    In the most recent ITA women's national team rankings, the 'Dogs moved up one spot to No. 59. California will be the top ranked team in Berkeley as the Bears are ranked No. 7. UNLV dropped a spot to No. 50 while Saint Mary's moved into a tie for No. 41.

    Schedule of Play:
    Sun, Jan 27 at 10 am - Cal vs. Fresno State
    Sun, Jan 27 at 1 pm - St. Mary's vs. UNLV
    Mon, Jan 28 at 10 am - Consolation
    Mon, Jan 28 at 1 pm - Championship

    Time to Hit the Road
    Last weekend's California Winter Invite began a long road trip for the 'Dogs who will play on the road for over a month in California and Arizona. After the 'Dogs travel back to Berkeley for the Kick-Off Weekend, Fresno State will head down to the City of Angels to face Pepperdine and USC. They will have one more road trip in California to the Bay Area to play USF and Santa Clara and will then set off to Arizona to face UofA and Arizona State.

    Home Opener
    The Bulldogs home opener will come on Friday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. against the Hornets of Sacramento State. Fresno State will hit the courts a day later to face UC Davis at 10 a.m.

    New Leader
    Ryan Stotland is in his first season as head coach of the Fresno State women's tennis team and the eighth head coach in the history of the program and replaces Simon Thibodeau, who led the Bulldogs for the past eight seasons.

     

     

    Stotland was the assistant coach Arizona for the last four seasons where he coached five nationally ranked singles players, four nationally ranked doubles teams, posted a 55-37 overall record and made two NCAA Tournament appearances.
