FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team moved up to 14th in the country on Monday and anticipates the opportunity to host an NCAA regional for the first time since 2001. Fresh off their sixth-straight Western Athletic Conference title, the Bulldogs anxiously await Tuesday's NCAA selection show for the announcement of the 64-team bracket.

University Chicken, located on the corner of Shaw and Woodrow, will host the Bulldogs in a gathering to watch the selection show which airs at approximately 11:45 a.m. Fans and friends of the program are invited to join the team and celebrate the program's 12th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.

The Bulldogs were completely dominant at this year's WAC tournament. Fresno State beat San Jose State 4-0 in the quarterfinals, topped Idaho 4-0 in the semis, and defeated Boise State 4-0 in the final.

Sophomore Melanie Gloria was named the conference's Player of the Year, freshman Renata Kucerkova was awarded the Freshman of the Year and head coach Simon Thibodeau was named the Coach of the Year.

Last season the `Dogs entered the tournament ranked No. 21 in the country, eventually upsetting then-No. 11 California 4-3 in the second round to advance to the Round of 16.

This season, the `Dogs have been ranked as high as No. 12 in the country. The Bulldogs are 20-3 overall and currently own an 11-match winning streak.

If the Bulldogs are awarded a regional, the event will be held May 12-13 at the Wathen Tennis Center.
