RENO, Nev. - The Fresno State volleyball team earned its first Mountain West Conference sweep on Saturday afternoon after defeating Nevada in three sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-22).

The Bulldogs (10-7, 3-2 MW) came out of the gate fired up after losing a close match to San Diego State earlier in the week. The `Dogs never trailed in the first two sets and overcame a two-point deficit in the final set to beat the Wolf Pack.

Junior Megan Callahan totaled 14 kills hitting a team best .520 against Nevada. She also recorded three blocks in the `Dogs win.

The Bulldogs maintained a two-point lead for most of the opening set. A tipped ball from Korrin Wild on the outside was the first of three unanswered points and the `Dogs lead 15-12. Fresno State jumped ahead increasing its lead to 20-13 with an 8-1 run. The Bulldogs won the first set 25-17.

Callahan hit a team-high .750 in the first set with six kills and Brand added another six kills hitting .417. Brand also recorded two blocks in the opening set. As a team, the Bulldogs hit .438 with 18 kills and recorded 14 digs.

The `Dogs began the second set with 12-2 run to take a commanding lead. Nevada made a run cutting the Bulldogs lead to 15-9. A solo block from Lauren Albertson gave the `Dogs a point and increased their lead 19-14. Albertson tallied six blocks against the Wolf Pack and 14 in the past three matches.

Fresno State ended the second set with a 7-3 run to win the set 25-17. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

In the third set, the Bulldogs overcame a one-point deficit with a 5-1 run taking a 10-6 lead. Brand stopped the Wolf Pack's quick 3-0 run with a kill for the side out and the `Dogs led 11-9. Fresno State evened the close set 18-18 and went on a short 3-0 run taking a 20-18 lead.



The Bulldogs fell behind by two late in the third set, but a kill from Brand started a 5-0 run giving the `Dogs the win 25-22. Fresno State won the match 3-0.

Wild led the defense with a total of 16 digs and recorded a service ace. She leads the conference with 28 aces on the year.

The `Dogs host Colorado State on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Save Mart Center, which starts a four-game homestand.
