San Jose State got off to a quick start in set two with an early 8-2 lead. The Bulldogs would fight back to get to within one at 9-8 but the Spartans would end the set on a 16-6 run to take set two 25-14 and a 2-0 lead in the match.

Despite San Jose State winning set three and sweeping the match, the Bulldogs looked strong in set three, staying close until the end. Fresno State would be down just one at 14-13 after tying the set at 10. The Bulldogs would cut to within two at 22-20 and force SJSU head coach Oscar Crespo to call a timeout.

A Fresno State block would cut the lead to one, at 22-21 behind the serving of Moss. A SJSU kill would make it 23-21, followed by a Bulldog error to set up the first match point for SJSU but the Spartans served an error.

A Lacey Gera kill forced another SJSU timeout at 24-23. A kill by SJSU would secure the set and the match at 25-23 for the Spartans.
