    STOCKTON, Calif. - In the final match of the 2007 season, the Fresno State volleyball team fell in the consolation match of the University of the Pacific Banker's classic to St. Mary's on Saturday night in Stockton, Calif., by games scores of 22-30, 22-30 and 27-30.

    Fresno State started game one of tonight's match as they did in yesterday's match against Pacific. The Bulldogs had an early 4-3 lead and were up by as many as two at 13-11 off of a kill by senior Angela Wiggins.

    Tied at 15-15, the Gaels went on a 10-1 run to open the lead up at 25-16. Fresno State would earn a couple of points back off of a service ace by senior Tiffany Hess and a kill by the third senior on the team, Alisha McKee.

    Points rallied till the end but St. Mary's had to big of a lead and ended game one with a kill by Taylor Groess. There were 13 ties in game one. McKee and Wiggins led the `Dogs with four kills each in game one.

    St. Mary's held the lead the whole way in game two and were up by as many as seven. The Gaels hit a match-high .366 in game two and Groess added seven kills.

    The Bulldogs started game three with a kill by Wiggins and an ace by McKee for the early 2-0 lead. St. Mary's tied it at 6-6 and then took the lead at 9-8. Fresno State rallied back to tie it at 11-11 and a service ace by McKee gave the `Dogs the lead once again.

    Four more ties would follow and the Bulldogs stayed close down the stretch, but after taking a 17-16 lead, the Gaels would go on to take game three and the match. St. Mary's earned third place in the UOP Classic with the win.

    Wiggins finished the match with a team-high 13 kills. Hess had 25 assists to lead the Bulldogs while freshman Kelly Mason added 17 digs. McKee tied a career-high with three service aces.



    Fresno State had nine total team blocks to just five for the Gaels.

    It was the final match for Hess, Wiggins and McKee in a Bulldog uniform. Hess ended her career ranked 10th all-time at Fresno State in assists with 1,253 total assists. McKee is ranked 10th all-time in school history in attempts with 2,516. Wiggins ended her career with over 700 kills.

    Fresno State finished the season with a 5-26 record.
