FRESNO, Calif. - Megan Callahan, a 6-0 left-handed outside hitter from Merced, Calif., signed a National Letter of Intent to attend school and play volleyball at Fresno State beginning in the 2010 season.

Callahan, out of Buhach Colony High School in Atwater, Calif., just finished an excellent high school career and looks to bring her attacking and serving skills to the court this fall.

"Megan was a late find for us, one that we're certainly proud of," said head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell. "She's a young lady eager for a challenge. Her potential is totally untapped and the fact that she's left-handed will add a new dimension to our offense. I really like the fact that Megan is a lefty with a strong attack on both pins. She's dynamic, quick and has good size. Megan will create a blocking challenge for our opponents so I can see her making an impact in year one."

At Buhach Colony, Callahan was a three-time varsity letterwinner who earned second-team all-league honors her sophomore year and was named the team's most improved.

In her junior season, she was named the League MVP, Merced Sun Star Player of the Year, Merced Sun Star Athlete of the Week, 14th Annual Golden Valley Classic High School Tournament MVP, Oakdale High School Tournament MVP, first-team all-league, Modesto Bee Athlete of the Week and to the Modesto Bee's 2008 All-Stanislaus District Team.

She was just as impressive her senior year also being named the League MVP, Merced Sun Star Player of the Year, 15th Annual Golden Valley High School Tournament MVP, first-team all-league and to the 2009 All Stanislaus District Team.

In 2009 she had 335 kills out of 671 attacks (96% kill average). She set a school record of 35 kills in one match of four sets in the playoffs against Will C. Wood. She also averaged 4.3 digs per game and had serving accuracy of 96%.

Callahan played club ball for Delta Valley 15-1 Blue out of Stockton, Calif., in 2008 and helped the team qualify for the Junior Olympics. In 2009, she played play for the Rage Volleyball Club 18-1 out of Ripon, Calif., which also qualified for JO's. She currently plays for the Delta Valley Volleyball Club 18-1.
