Volleyball Adds More Hawaiian Flair

FRESNO, Calif. - Michelle Peters (Laie, Hawaii) is the latest Bulldog to sign with the Fresno State volleyball team as she will suit up for the 2003 season.
A 5-10 outside hitter out of Kahuku High School, Peters has lettered in soccer, basketball and volleyball at KHS.
Playing middle blocker as a sophomore before being moved to the outside her last two seasons, she was selected as the Gatorade Hawaii Player of the Year as a senior.
As the Nissan/HHSAA Girls State Volleyball Championships' Most Outstanding Player, Peters also was named Player of the Year by the Hawaii High School Athletic Association and was the Oahu Interscholastic Association (O.I.A.) Player of the Year.
A recipient of the LDS Young Womanhood Recognition Award (equivalent to Boy Scouts' Eagle award), she has been an honor roll member while being an invited player for the 2000 USA All-Star Volleyball team.
With three uncles having played collegiate football, Peters was the O.I.A. Volleyball Championships' MVP her junior and senior seasons.
As a senior, she averaged 6.0 kills, 5.0 blocks, 15.0 digs and 6.0 service aces per game while as a junior she averaged 4.0 kills, 3.0 blocks, 12.0 digs and 3.0 service aces per game.
A member of the NorthShore Volleyball club team, she has competed at the UC Davis Volleyball Festivals and the Las Vegas Invitational in 2003.
Peters will join fellow Hawaiian and sophomore outside hitter La'akea Campbell (Kaneohe, Hawaii) on the Bulldog volleyball squad this fall.
