FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State volleyball team continues its stretch of 13-straight matches on the road this week as the 'Dogs head north to Sacramento to compete in the Hornet Invitational. The 'Dogs are 5-1 on the season, the best start to a season by a Bulldog team since 2004, and boast the best record out of any team in this week's tournament field. With a three-match winning streak, the Bulldogs look to pick up more wins this weekend against some tough competition in Alabama, Sacramento State and San Francisco.

Scouting Alabama
The 'Dogs open the tournament with the biggest named team on their schedule to date in Alabama out of the SEC. The Crimson Tide are 2-5 on the season, with wins over Alabama A&M and SMU. This will be the first-ever meeting between Alabama and Fresno State. Alabama is led by Alyssa Meuth with 67 kills and a .386 hitting percentage. As a team, Alabama is hitting .219 and averages 2.32 blocks per set. .

Scouting Sacramento State
The host Sacramento State Hornets, 2-4 on the season, won their first two matches of the season vs. Siena and New Hampshire. It will be the first meeting between Fresno State and Sacramento State since Sept. 11, 2004, in which the Hornets won 3-1. Fresno State leads the overall series 18-7. Sacramento State is led by Janelle Currey with 103 kills and a .239 hitting percentage. As a team, the Hornets average 1.50 service aces per set.

Scouting San Francisco
A 2008 NCAA Tournament team, the San Francisco Dons are 2-5 on the young season. San Francisco has wins over Eastern Washington and Cal State Northridge. Fresno State leads the overall series vs. San Francisco 25--2. The last meeting between the two schools was a San Francisco 3-0 win on opening weekend of 2007. The Dons are led by Sarah Mandala with 117 kills and by Haley Carroll with 125 digs.

Wyoming Invitational
Senior Allanah Munson was named MVP and Kelly Leonardo and Lauren Berger earned all-tournament team honors as the 'Dogs won the Wyoming Cowgirl Invitational with a perfect 3-0 record and wins over North Dakota, Montana State and the host Cowgirls. Fresno State's three-match winning streak is the best by a Bulldog team since 2005 and the best non-conference winning streak since 2004.
