FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno State volleyball team returns home to the Save Mart Center on Oct. 11 beginning a four game homestand. The 'Dogs host Colorado State on Thursday Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. and then Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. The match against Colorado State is Breast Cancer Awareness and all fans are encouraged to wear pink.
Fresno State vs. Colorado State
The Bulldogs and Rams meet for the 13th time in program history. The 'Dogs lead the overall series 7-5. The last meeting was on Oct. 4, 1996 in Fort Collins, Colo. and the Bulldogs won 3-2.
Scouting the Rams
Colorado State is sitting in second place with a 3-1 Mountain West record and an overall record of 10-5. The Rams come into the Save Mart Center with a three-game winning streak. Megan Plourde leads the team with 1.6 blocks per set. She also is averaging 2.8 kills per set and hitting .326. CSU is hitting .239 with 12.6 kills, 14.2 digs and 2.9 blocks per set.
Fresno State vs. Wyoming
The Bulldogs and the Cowgirls meet for the 19th time in program history. Wyoming leads the series 10-8. The last meeting was in Laramie, Wyo. on Sept. 5, 2009 and the Bulldogs won in four sets.
Scouting the Cowgirls
Wyoming is in sixth place in the Mountain West standings with a 1-3 record and 13-6 overall. The Cowgirls have won two of their last three matches. Jodi Purdy leads Wyoming with 3.2 kills and 2.5 digs per set. She is also hitting .228. Erin Kirby is leading the team with 1.4 blocks per set. The Cowgirls are averaging 12.0 kills, 14.1 digs and 2.9 blocks per set, while hitting .217.
The Week That Was
The Bulldogs went 1-1 last week recording their first Mountain West sweep over Nevada and losing a close five-set match to San Diego State. The 'Dogs improve to 3-2 in conference play and 10-7 overall.
Home Sweet Home
The Bulldogs return to the Save Mart Center for four straight games at home. The 'Dogs have a 2-2 record on their home court and are 1-0 in home conference matches. Fresno State plays a total of 14 games at home in 2012.
Wild Serving Up Aces
Junior Korrin Wild leads the conference aces per set with 0.42 and a total of 28 on the year. The outside hitter needs 15 more aces to break into the top 10 season records. Wild has a total of 79 service aces in her career and needs 24 more to break into the top 10 career records. She recorded a career- high five aces earlier this season against UTEP.
Albertson Making An Impact
Junior Lauren Albertson is making an impact at the net for the Bulldogs. The right side hitter has collected 14 blocks in the past three matches. Albertson recorded seven assisted blocks against San Diego State, which is one shy of her career-high. She added a solo block and five assisted blocks against Nevada.
