COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State junior Maci Murdock was rewarded with the first Mountain West Volleyball Player of the Week honor of her career Monday after posting two of the team's top efforts of the season last weekend.

The middle blocker from Turlock, Calif., did not commit a hitting error in the team's two sweeps, and posted the team's two highest hitting marks of 2013 vs. Nevada (.750) and SJSU (.727) to give her six +.600 totals in 2013.

Her six blocks vs. San Jose State led the team for the team-best eighth time in 2013 and was a three-set team season high.

Overall, her combined weekend averages topped the squad for hitting (.737) and blocks (1.50).

This weekend's errorless hitting totals moved up her three spots on the MW overall season chart in hitting to fourth (.380), and she also paces the team this year in blocks (0.87 p/s). In conference play, she leads the MW in hitting (.436) by .039 and stands seventh in blocks (1.32 p/s).

All-time for Fresno State, her .380 season hitting mark is .015 ahead of the school record, and she also leads the career chart by .014 (.331). On other all-time school lists she also ranks 11th in career block assists (222).

Murdock claimed the team's first honor of the season, and two other teammates have picked up honors in recent years - senior outside hitters Marissa Brand (11/21/10, 9/5/11) and Korrin Wild (10/15/12).

Team-wise at home last weekend, the `Dogs posted their second and third straight sweeps of the season and now have six +.300 totals this year.

Its .376 mark vs. Nevada was a new season best by .020 over last week's total vs. UNLV, and its .317 mark Friday vs. SJSU was its third-best of the campaign.

This weekend, the Fresno State volleyball team (10-8, 4-2) remains at home to host New Mexico on Thu., Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. and Air Force on Sat., Oct. 19 at 11 a.m.

The Bulldog-Falcon match is now an hour earlier than originally scheduled to accommodate Air Force's adjusted travel schedule since it will play at Boise State on Sunday.
