FRESNO, Calif. - With the road to Las Vegas for the 2010 Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament approaching the halfway point, Fresno State will visit San Jose State and Boise State to complete their four-match road span and attempt to charge up the WAC standings.

For Saturday's SJSU-FS volleyball match at 1 p.m., anyone showing a ticket to SJSU-FS football game ticket at the volleyball ticket window will be allowed in for $1.

Fresno State returns to the Save Mart Center to face Nevada (Oct. 28) and Utah State (Oct. 30)

About the San Jose State Spartans
The San Jose State Spartans are 8-14 on the season and 3-5 against WAC opponents. Fresno State trails the overall series with San Jose State, 25-47.

About the Boise State Broncos
The Boise State Broncos are 17-7 on the season and 4-4 against WAC opponents. Fresno State leads the overall series with Boise State, 16-7.

LAST MATCH: Dogs Finish Season Sweep of CSU Bakersfield
Fresno State took care of business by finishing the season sweep of CSU Bakersfield with a 3-2 victory (24-26, 25-23, 25-20, 25-27 and 15-11) over the `Runners on Wednesday night.

`Dogs Picked to Finish Third in WAC, Embracing High Expectations
The resurgence of the Fresno State volleyball program garnered notice with the selection of the Bulldogs to finish third during the 2010 regular season in the Western Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll for the highest predicted finish in the annual poll since 2004. Hawai'i is the conference favorite with eight first-place votes and the Rainbow Wahine's Kanani Danielson was the unanimous pick for WAC Preseason Player of the Year.

WAC Tournament All-Session Tickets On Sale, Returns to Las Vegas
All-session tickets for the 2010 Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament, which returns to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas Nov. 22-24, are on sale now for $45 through The Bulldog Ticket Office or online at www.gobulldogs.com. All tickets are for general admission seating. Single-session tickets will not be available for purchase until Nov. 22 and can only be purchased through the Orleans Arena. The top six schools in the 2010 final regular season WAC standings qualify for the single-elimination competition with the tournament champion earning an automatic bid into the 2010 NCAA Tournament.



Clarke Named to 2010 Preseason All-WAC Team
The WAC coaches honored Fresno State's Brianna Clarke as one of 12 student-athletes on the 2010 Preseason All-WAC team. Clarke, a native of Clovis, Calif. and Buchanan High School graduate, is in her junior year after two impressive seasons in a Bulldog uniform. She became the first `Dog since 2003-04 to earn back-to-back All-WAC honors as a member of the 2009 Second-Team All-WAC and 2008 All-WAC Freshman Team.

Netherby-Sewell Develops Strong Foundation for Bulldogs
In just over two years, Lauren Netherby-Sewell has developed a strong foundation for Fresno State volleyball as the program's fourth head coach. She directed the Bulldogs to the 2009 Western Athletic Conference Semifinals for the program's best performance since 2004. Netherby-Sewell emphasizes the strength of accountablity, a fighting spirit and a strong work ethic as critical elements for success on and off the floor.

Bulldogs Hold Best WAC Mark in Five-Set Thrillers
The Fresno State volleyball team relishes pressure situations and competitive battles. The Bulldogs sport a WAC-best 3-0 record this season in five-set contests with victories against Boise State, CSU Bakersfield and Sacramento State. The `Dogs have won three consecutive five-set battles dating back to a 2009 WAC Quarterfinal win over the Nevada Wolf Pack. The Bulldogs are also the only remaining unbeaten WAC team this year in five-set matches. Fresno State last dropped a five-set contest on Nov. 17, 2009 at CSU Bakersfield.

"We Are Your Team!" -- After a four-match road trip, the Bulldogs will celebrate Fresno State's Centennial on Oct. 28 versus Nevada and finish the homestand against Utah State on Oct. 30. Both matches start at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center.
