    FRESNO, Calif. -- The Mountain West All-Conference Women's Volleyball awards, as selected by the league's nine head coaches, were announced Tuesday. Fresno State's Barbara Alcantara became the first Bulldog volleyball player to earn All-MW honors after the `Dogs finished 18-13 in the first season as a MW member.

    Alcantara, a setter from Curitiba, Brazil, led the conference in assists per set with 11.2. The senior also ranked 28th in the country in assists per set. Alcantara totaled 1,348 assists on the year, which is among the top 10 in Bulldog history in a single season.

    In the final week of the regular season, Alcantara earned her first MW Player of the Week honors after helping the Bulldog finish the 2012 season with a 2-0 record. In those final two matches, she averaged 10.20 assists and 2.10 digs per set, while hitting at a .421 clip. She also had three service aces and a block assist, and averaged 1.44 points per set over eight total sets.

    Alcantara recorded nine double-doubles in her final season with the Bulldogs and tallied a career best 65 assists against Wyoming. She also recorded 31 service aces and was sixth in the conference with 0.26 per set. Alcantara collected 45 blocks on the year (four solo and 41 assisted).

    Selected as a captain in 2012, Alcantara hit a season best .750 with three kills against the Pac-12's Arizona State. She hit .500 or better in seven matches and recorded a season best six kills against Boise State.
