FRESNO, Calif. - Head volleyball coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell announced the signing of three student-athletes who will attend Fresno State and join the team in the 2010 season. Kristen Sciacca, Erin Stock and Korrin Wild all signed National Letters of Intent last week.

"Our 2010 class is a special one," said Netherby-Sewell. "After our 2008 season we went on the hunt for young women who love the game, are highly competitive and have a high volleyball IQ. Kristen, Korrin and Erin fit the bill. This is a wonderful class of strong young women who have little fear when it comes to making an impact in their first year. We can't wait for their arrival."

Sciacca was a three-year letterwinner at Lewis-Palmer High School in Monument, Colo. She tallied 606 kills with a .420 hitting percentage and 214 blocks in her career. In her senior season alone, Sciacca posted 308 kills and 117 blocks, as she lead the Colorado Springs 4A Metro League and was ranked sixth in the state of Colorado in 4A in both categories.

Also in her three years, she was named to the AVCA Under Armour High School All-American watch list, to the Denver Post State Championship all-tournament team (twice), second-team all-state, second-team all-region, Colorado Springs Metro League all-conference, a Junior Olympic Qualifier and JNQ all-star.

"Kristin is an athletic middle that will add speed and height to our offense," Netherby-Sewell added. "She's a good jumper and will dominate off one foot. Kristen is a team player and was raised to be strong, accountable and independent. She'll be a wonderful addition to our team."

Stock also hails from Colorado, as she attends Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. A four-year starter on varsity, Stock is a four-team all-state academic first-team member. Stock was on the pre-season All-American watch list and was a two-year captain, first-team All-Metro League honoree and an all-state honorable mention. She played club volleyball with the Colorado Juniors.

"Erin is a setter that has played at a high level within an intense training program for years," said Netherby-Sewell. "She has no fear possibly starting in our quarterbacking role as a freshman. She's a tremendous athlete that knows the game and will allow us to create the high-tempo game we need to go to the next level."

Wild is a local athlete from Sanger High School in Sanger, Calif. A three-year varsity letterwinner, Wild was a three-time MVP of her league and her team. In her career she also earned the captains award three times. She was named second-team All-Fresno Bee her sophomore season and first-team her junior year.

Wild was named to four all-tournament teams in her career and the MVP of the Hoover Invitational. She was also named to the National Coaches Association All-American watch list.

"Korrin has been the talk of the town this year," said Netherby-Sewell. "She's a diamond in the rough - a true athlete that we'll train into the setter position. She creates quite a stir with her mature leadership and competitive spirit. This young woman loves volleyball and loves learning. She'll raise our level the moment she steps on our court."
