The Fresno State Spirit Squad is composed of a competitive co-ed cheer team, a competitive all-female dance team and the lovable mascot, TimeOut. Each segment of the Spirit Squad has different responsibilities but work together as one team. They serve as ambassadors for the Athletics Department, the University and the community as they enhance the fan experience at athletic contests, represent the traditions of the Athletics Department at campus functions and promote the University throughout the community events.

The Spirit Squad has its strongest presence on the sidelines of some of the University's most visible community function, intercollegiate athletic events. They entertain the Red Wave and enhance the fan experience by executing stunts, leading the crowd in cheers and performing choreographed routines to the music of the Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band/Pep Band or recorded music at football games, men's and women's basketball games and volleyball matches. In addition to the athletic events, members of the sprit squad compete against other colleges and universities at various cheer and dance competitions.

The Fresno State Athletics Department provides financial and administrative support for the Spirit Squad. Additional support comes from funds generated as a result of a number of fundraising activities such as youth camps and clinics which enables the spirit squad to promote the program while interacting with the community.
