Fresno State Fans: Loud and Proud

    Red Wave Photo

Loud and proud, Fresno State's loyal and enthusiastic fans have made themselves heard nationwide - by national publications which have chronicled the Bulldogs' fantastic fan following, and by others in the media, who have referred to the noise level generated by the Red Wave as "deafening."

It's that kind of fan support that has helped put Fresno State athletics on the map, and the kind of support that resulted in record-breaking attendance at Bulldog Stadium for home football games. It's the Red Wave that packs the 15,596-seat Save Mart Center for basketball games. Bulldog fans also invade Beiden Field (baseball), Bulldog Diamond (softball), the Wathen Tennis Center (tennis) and Warmerdam Field (track and field) by the thousands for every home event.

    Other Red Wave Highlights:

    • Fresno State is one of leaders among West Coast schools in attendance. The Bulldogs have averaged over 40,000 fans since the 2001 season.

    • Fresno State is among the leaders on the West Coast in football season ticket sales, selling over 30,000 in the past four years.

    • The Red Wave supports the entire Fresno State athletics program. In addition to football, Fresno State holds record-breaking ticket sales for men's basketball, and the sports of baseball, softball and soccer have been among the nation's leaders in attendance in recent seasons. Fresno State's high-powered baseball program sells 1,500 season tickets per year, while the national-class softball program has set and broken its single-game national attendance mark.

    • Fresno State's famous Bulldog Foundation has been the No. 1 fundraising organization in the nation for the past two decades. This volunteer organization raises over $7 million annually for the Fresno State Athletics Department. The BDF is headed by executive director Pat Ogle, the 1996 National Fundraiser of the Year. The monies raised by the BDF go towards scholarships, recruiting and special needs of the athletics department.
