Selland Arena, where Fresno State basketball teams have fashioned an all-time winning percentage of .736, is in its 32nd season as home of the Bulldogs. Named after former Fresno mayor Arthur E. Selland, the arena first opened in September of 1966. Originally built at a cost of $10 million, the arena underwent a $10 million expansion project prior to the 1984-85 season, when its capacity grew from 6,582 to 10,132 seats.
Shortly after the expansion project was completed, Fresno State led the West Coast in attendance five times, averaging better than 10,000 fans per game.
Under head coach Jerry Tarkanian, the 1995-96 Bulldogs set a single-season school record for victories at Selland Arena, posting a mark of 17-3. In 1997-98, the Bulldogs won 13 in a row at home before losing their final home contest of the season at Selland as the capacity grew to 10,220 in 1997-98.
In four seasons under Tarkanian, the Bulldogs have fashioned a home winning percentage of .854 (58-10).
In 31 seasons, Fresno State teams have compiled a record of 348-125.
Known for loud, raucous, red-clad crowds, the Bulldogs have enjoyed 56 consecutive sellouts under Tarkanian.
